Lakeview School was created in 2004 by the merger of Totara Drive School, Lansdowne School and Hiona Intermediate as a full primary school (Year 0-8) to serve the North East area of Masterton.

The school has recently undergone extensive rennovations, including all classrooms, large library, computer suite, hall, gymnasium, swimming pool and adventure playgrounds.
