Our Vision

Music Academy

Over the last two years we have been developing our school of music.  We are very proud of this programme and have noticed with amazement the development of our students as we have focused on their untapped musical giftedness.

Pip Hansen is appointed as our Music Specialist.  She is a graduate from the Nelson School of Music.  Pip plays a number of instruments and is an accomplished singer.  She is the lead singer and founder of a very popular local rock band called “Deaf Lemon”.

Students at Lakeview School have the opportunity, if selected, to learn a number of instruments.  At the moment we have approximately 60 students learning the guitar, keyboard or drums, as well as others developing the vocal abilities.

Lakeview has two school choirs, a rock band, Jump Jam group and two kapa haka groups.

We are also very glad to have Julian Raphael working at our school.  Julian is commissioned by the New Zealand Chamber of Music to work in schools across the Wellington region.  We are one of three schools in the Wairarapa where he is working.  Julian takes three classrooms a week through an intensive programme of singing and percussion.  We are also lucky to have him tutoring our whole school during singing each week.  The work he is doing at Lakeview will culminate in a town concert put on by the three schools.
