Special
Programmes at Lakeview:
We
have one part time experienced teacher (Dawne Bird) who oversees our
special needs programmes. Our team of Teacher aides assist teachers
with programmes for children who need extra help. Dawne also oversees
our Parent Tutored Reading Programme.
Reading Recovery – We have one part time Reading Recovery teacher
(Suzanne Jarvis) providing an extensive reading and writing programme
for 6 year old children who need extra reading help.
Our
Talk to Learn and Phonological Awareness Programmes help some of our 5
year olds “catch up” in oral language and awareness of letter sounds.
Granny's Basket is a
new initiative to help children improve reading skills who miss out on
the reading recovery programme.
